(Comment 1 of 2) I suspect he might be referencing League of Legends, similar to but quite different than "DOTA" ("League", "League of Legends", or "LOL" is under Riot Games (along with some other games, and there are mobile games too...), "Riot" or "Riot Games" is I believe a company out of Ch1na, and a lot of the fundraising goes to places they shouldn't - they pull on heartstrings by sometimes using even c@ncer and children as an incentive for people to buy a "skin"/costume/outfit for a "champion"/character and "part of the funds" collected will be "donated". Very hypocritical based on a lot of players insulting people and things, calling them "c@ncer" if they don't go the way that they think they should. There is a lot of insulting and name calling... I have a similar history with gaming and working towards "the industry", a life playing video games and the attention it brings... Though as a female it would not go as well (they judge mainly on looks and what you seem like based on their limited beliefs/perspective and not so much caring about who you truly are - I would have been s3xual1zed worse. If your username indicated that you are a female in any form, especially if you play as certain "champions" or characters, or as the stereotypical role for a woman/female player in the game as a "support", the h@te, s3xual1zation, and s3xism can get pretty nasty. Had someone tell me once in all chat (the opposing team can chat too) to intimidate me, "oh wow, so you can cook, clean, AND play league?" and I've heard... worse.) so it was a tiny bit easier to be discouraged from pursuing that "reality". Women don't typically "make it" without getting s3xual1zed, har@ssed, or @tt@cked until they quit/step down. It has gotten a little better in some video games over time, but there is still a lot of men online who push women away from playing, especially if they play "better", it tugs at their pride and their sense of competition and "winning" at any means necessary kicks in. If they can't use you (it is quite common as a "female gamer" to receive messages asking for "nud3s"/"n00dz"/n@ked photos, even saying things like "pics or it didn't happen" - especially if they "catch wind" through voice chat hearing you are a woman on the microphone, often treating people pretending to be women better than real women), they @tt@ck harder. If they can't "have" or "possess" you, then "no one" can. (This is not always the case, but more common than one may think sadly). It's a free to play game which draws a lot of people in, but once you get into it, it is so easy to drop too much time, money, and mental energy (and emotional) into it, in attempt to climb the ladder and not be seen as a "n00b" (yes, new players are disrespected, which causes a lot of "I'll show you" mentality). It is easily addictive because of the dopamine rushes and constant incentive to "get good" on the game. A lot of players addicted to the validation of others or feeling a certain way about themselves, a sense of accomplishment (which a lot of players come from t0xic homes or places they are not accepted or where they is a lack of emotional consideration, often from broken homes or relationships, feeling like they are never good enough, and being rejected is a norm so the game feels familiar to them yet gives them a false sense of control) based on unrealistic, constantly changing standards. When it feels like you really "got somewhere" in the game, the game changes ("buffs"/"increases" or "nerfs"/"decreases" the stats of the characters, or changes the game and map as a whole that shakes things up.) People will often hangout on Discord and bond over the game as well, a lot of backbiting too, especially over petty reasons (if someone had an emergency and had to leave in the middle of a game, "friends" will get angry and push them away for "ruining their game", especially if it is Ranked, where almost every decision affects your standing and can either promote or demote a player. Players want to feel like "somebody" while not always realizing that they are sabotaging their one and only life. A lot of players are New Age, athiests/unbelievers, witches, or s@t@nists/luc1f3r1ans. There is this constant push of "One more game" if the last game did not end up how desired, and people easily disregard the players who have a job, classes, responsibilities etc outside of the game and it conflicts with having a healthy life. It creates a fantasy in the mind, a dissociation with reality that gets t0xic quickly.

(Comment 2 of 2) It's big in North America, Europe, and South Korea too, huge in eSports (and the "egirl" culture which is pretty much women s3xual1zing themselves and playing video games, and using men to fund the lifestyle, similar to 0nlyf@ns p0rn) and the game is very easy to become an idol and addiction, TONS of players worldwide but one of, if not the most, toxic communities (lots of lack of accountability, lots of "flaming"/"trolling" not simple "banter" including attacks on people including s3xism and r@cism and purposeful sabotage of people because of competitiveness and immaturity, so bad that if you are "too good" or threatening to someones "MMR"/in-game score and reputation, players will DD0S you/attack your connection or computer with a lag switch (making the game nearly unplayable) etc.) It is an online 5v5 team-based strategy game that one of the only benefits I could get from it was a form of critical thinking (a lot of thinking ahead and planning, as long as you do not fall into "tunnel vision" - a lot of players manipulate, tempt, or distract to make others fall short so they can win - even if it means trash talking. Reporting players is not consistent because they only listen to players with a certain reputation ("honor level") unless there is specific key words used in the chat log that their animated system can recognize (such as the n word or calling someone br@in-de@d/r3t@rded) but a lot goes under the radar such as people saying "K" "Y" "S" (put the letters together - meaning "k1ll y0urs3lf")) There is a lot of sorcery/magic and witchcraft for sure. The game enables a lot of spirits including anger, bitterness, and pride as well as lust (a lot of p0rn, increasing h0m0s3xuality and technically b3ast1ality promoted), and s3xual1zation around the female characters especially but not limited to, including the "foxgirl" character (not naming names) who is based on a pagan idol from Japan that preys on men and uses deception to lure them in) and there are a lot of characters based on pagan idols ("demi-gods" and spirits) though the change their stories/lore "just enough" to seem different/"unique". A lot of players buy and make actual idols (statues/figurines/plushes/etc) of the characters etc, and players easily drop big money and a lot of time on the game. A large amount of the players are drunk/drinking or smoking, and there is voice chat. Most players have a Twitch, UA-cam, or Mixer (not sure if still relevant) stream they are trying to promote and are quite narcissistic and self-exalting. (Most games of "Summoner's Rift" which admits you are summoning these pagan idols/spirits - are about 30mins average or more and Ranked matches going up to an hour or more - and "ARAM" matches around 10-20mins, and with all the "dodgers" (people who are petty and throw a fit over not getting their idolized character or having to face certain characters (called "champions" in the game) it's easily to spend a lot of time simply matchmaking/waiting for a game alone, on top of the time playing. A lot of players heavily identify with the characters ("champions") or desire them as their partner (a lot of the players are big into Kpop and Anime as well - idols are not new to them and they think the digital/2d/3d forms of "not real" characters are of no harm, but might have d3m0nic forces behind them (easily causing spiritual warfare including spiritual spouses and familiar and monitoring spirits) and call their favorites their "main" and can get very possessive over them (not wanting others to touch them or play them or to face them because it hurts them to "harm them"), and the players commonly cosplay as them, spending so much time and resources on creating outfits/costumes/weaponry etc and makeup etc, changing themselves to fit in with the crowd at ComicCons etc and lavishing in the attention. There is so much I could say. It emotionally affected me so much and took so much of my time, money, and mental/emotional energy, where it was difficult to imagine doing anything else and I just wanted to jump right back in. I "no-lifed" it (played 8 hours plus easily a day, commonly staying up all night and barely sleeping during the day because of feeling so "wired" before rest). It is even worse for those with Autism/ASD or ADHD, and at first seems to "hit the spot" with stimulation towards the sometimes struggling attention span (the game has so much happening at once for a long period of time, times the amount of games you play), but over time it really worsens it and makes it even harder to be fully present in real life. Players, if not voice chatting, often listen to music while playing or watch eSports (affecting their attention spans a lot, they crave constant stimulation like the game provides but more and more until burnt out, the illusion of going places when in the same place, a form of escapism and hedonism, a pool of instant gratification). It easily harms relationships and sabotages any sense of self-discipline. It consumes you... and it is very, very difficult to leave without withdrawals and emotional dysregulation (a lot of denial around it, but it is easy to get addicted once you get into it/"get the ropes", easy to crave more, seeking validation from others and a (false) sense of community and sense of self (masking with pride and lies instead of true confidence in the truth). And after playing, it is easy to want to play a different game to "wind down" instead of processing things in a healthy way, easily getting pulled into another fantasy until so burnt out, you drop. It drains the life out of you... I spent years on the game... Well over 1000 dollars over time, dropped on costumes and characters and avatars/icons and mainly loot boxes... Don't even start on the loot boxes... they provide in-game ones and in-game keys you collect from playing enough (pulling people in even more)... but they become addictive as it is definitely a form of g@mbling... it's hard to stop.
